Privacy Policy

The short version

Odiphile plays only the audio files already on your device — your music never leaves it. To improve stability and quality, we collect anonymous crash reports and aggregated usage analytics through Firebase. We don't collect your name, email, phone number, contacts, or any content from your files. No ads, ever.

What Data We Collect

To diagnose crashes and understand how the app is used, we collect a limited set of anonymous data through Firebase:

  • Crash logs — stack traces, OS version, device model, app version
  • App interactions — screen views, session length, taps (not song titles or listening history)
  • Diagnostics — app start time, ANRs, performance metrics
  • Device or other IDs — anonymous Firebase installation ID (not your Google account, Advertising ID, or IMEI)
  • Approximate location — country/region only, derived from IP

We do not collect your name, email, phone, contacts, photos, audio files, or what you listen to.

What Stays on Your Device

All app data remains entirely on your device and is never transmitted anywhere. This includes:

  • Your music library and audio files
  • Playlists and playback preferences
  • App settings (audio mode, EQ, ReplayGain)
  • Recently played information

Network Access

Odiphile uses your internet connection only to send anonymous crash reports and analytics to Firebase. The app does not stream, sync, or download music — your files stay on your device.

Third-Party Services

Odiphile uses Google Firebase for two purposes:

  • Firebase Crashlytics — crash stack traces so we can fix bugs faster
  • Firebase Analytics — anonymous, aggregated usage statistics

Firebase data is processed by Google under their Privacy Policy and Firebase Data Disclosure. We do not use advertising SDKs, Facebook SDK, or any social-tracking tools.

Audio Files & Permissions

Odiphile requests access to your device storage solely to read and play your music files. We use Android's Storage Access Framework (SAF) which gives you full control over which folders the app can access. No file metadata, song titles, or listening history is ever sent off your device.

Children's Privacy

Odiphile does not knowingly collect any personal information from children. The anonymous diagnostic data we collect (described above) cannot be used to identify any individual user, child or adult. The app is safe for use by all ages.

Changes to This Policy

If we ever change this policy, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date above.
